Was

The story of “Was”. Associating a memory to a word as a retention method:

Once, in a world where words lived and breathed, "Was" felt out of place. Unlike vibrant verbs like "Run" or "Jump", or vivid adjectives like "Bright" or "Majestic", "Was" felt he was... unremarkable.

He often wandered the vast lexical landscapes, searching for a purpose. One day, he met "Beautiful". She was radiant, drawing attention from every corner. "Was" felt a twinge of envy.

"Why do you look so downcast?" Beautiful asked.

"I just feel... plain," Was admitted. "There's nothing special about me."

Beautiful smiled, "Do you know, I wouldn't be understood without you?"

Was frowned, "What do you mean?"

"Think about it," she said. "Without you, how would one convey 'She was beautiful' about a past moment? You link the past to the present. You may not be flashy, but you're essential."

Over the next days, Was met "Young", "Wild", and "Free". Each shared how "Was" played a role in their existence. He provided context, giving depth to stories, songs, and memories.

With newfound clarity, Was returned to the heart of the linguistic land, not as a visitor, but as a proud member, standing tall among his peers. He realized that, sometimes, the most unassuming characters hold the threads that bind stories together. And in doing so, "Was" found his worth.
